No Surprise: Lobbyists Rule the Deficit “Supercommittee”

In the “everything old is new again” category, USA Today reports:

Sixty-six former aides to lawmakers serving on a congressional panel charged with finding ways to slash the federal deficit have represented powerful defense and health care industries that face colossal cuts in government spending, a new analysis shows.

Meanwhile, as the article also points out:

As the 12-member panel weighs how to cut at least $1.2 trillion from the deficit over 10 years, “it’s not clear who’s advocating for the citizens’ interests.”

It is past high time for us all to realize that Washington will never “reform” itself, cut its own budget, or otherwise deprive itself of the good life it enjoys at our expense.

We the people need to emulate those who have successfully risen up in revolt against their rulers and Just Say No.

If you think the country can’t possibly survive on a budget less than $3,700,000,000,000, click here for example for “How to Cut the 2011 Federal Budget by 2/3 and Have a $1.3 Trillion Surplus.”

  1. The only budget that matters is next year’s.

This super committee is a scam, through and through.

You cannot impose a budget from one congress onto one 10 years down the line, it’s never worked and it never will.

  2. The lobbyist-owned Congress and the AIPAC control our foreign policy especially in the middle east Then we have the regular number of neocons. All most in congress care about is retaining their jobs if can can it that. it was because they failed in their job the Super Committee of 12 was formed. however, like the 9/11 Commission the deck seems to be stacked in the houses favor.
