Michelle Obama: “We Made History!” Women Are No Longer Responsible for Our Sexuality!!

We can have sex without cost or consequences!

As our old friend Milton Friedman famously said, “There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch.”

Mrs. Obama might be well counseled to take that into consideration as she continues on her self-congratulatory, “We Made History” media stump. There might just be a few unanticipated consequences of the “free” contraception, abortificant, and abortion mandate that has been the most recent “surprise” from ObamaCare (a/k/a The “We have to pass it to know what’s in it” Act.)

Those who provide “free” goodies have a nasty habit of using their pocketbook to dictate the terms of the service provided.

Given that we are now talking about the most basic human function—reproduction—is it really that far-fetched to think we might soon no longer be “allowed” to do so at will?

Or need we not worry our pretty little heads? Just go have fun—Daddy’s taking care of everything...

  1. I am pro-choice. I am also pro-personal responsibility. If YOU goof, YOU need to take responsibility for the mistake. It isn’t my job to pay for it any more than it is your job to pay for my mistakes!
If someone or some organization pays for your mistakes, YOU OWE THEM!!!

  2. Yes, it’s remarkable on many levels, most particularly that the irony is entirely lost on feminists. Perhaps that’s not too surprising given their often grimly literal approach to life and ideas.

I was also really struck by the grotesque and frankly degrading spectacle of a female student at an elite law school appearing before Congress to proclaim to the world a) her entitlement (or greed by another name) to having her birth control paid for by others, and b) her lack of self-reliance. I have no problem with promiscuity (or whatever), if that is one’s choice, but I hate to see the debasement of human dignity implied by that episode.

I am reminded of Richard Weaver’s comment in “Ideas Have Consequences” to the effect that personal humiliation is a form of obscenity.

  3. If I had a time machine, I’d be happy to go back and provide mama Obama with all the contraceptives she could use to prevent her little brat from coming into being.

  5. I guess it depends on what you mean by “free”. If I am PAYING for health insurance, and that health insurance that I PAY for offers contraceptives as part of the package, then how is that “free”.

That being said, and since I don’t have diabetes, then I am sick and tired of all of that “free” insulin being given out. Especially, to all of those type 2 folks who lived irresponsibly and brought the disease on themselves through their poor behavior.

Not to mention all of that “free” Lipitor... and any other pharmaceutical covered by a health insurance package.

I guess no “free” is only applied to those things that people pay for, and that others don’t like, or want to politicize.

However, got news for you. If I pay a premium every month and get the coverage, then it ain’t free. If you don;t like what your health insurance covers then you can cancel it, or buy something that only covers the things you feel are politically appropriate.

  6. Thank you, Frank:

The slight difference is that under ObamaCare, every health policy is mandated to cover birth control, abortificants, and abortion at no co-pay by the policy holder. Many people have health coverage 100% paid by their employers or other third-party coverage, and thus they are themselves never paying anything.

This is especially controversial for religious organizations whose doctrine is opposed to anything from birth control at all, through abortion: they are being forced to bear the cost of that coverage for their employees.

My other point is that I believe only I have the right to control my own body, and along with that right comes responsibility, including making decisions about with whom I have sex, and if I take measures for pregnancy prevention or termination. When some or all of that responsibility is removed from me, I believe the obverse is a very real and present danger: the right will soon be deemed “removed” from me as well.

    Does that make sense?

    Best wishes,
    Mary

  7. I agree with you about free meds for conditions caused by irresponsible behavior (one of which involves me). However, there is a difference with contraception, and especially abortion, in that it violates the deeply held religious beliefs of those who would be required to pay for it. In the case of abortion, it kills a living (albeit small) human being. There is a difference.

  8. There is a lot more to women’s reproductive health care than birth control!!! And I am tired of all the old goats like Rush Windbag getting a ‘free’ Rx for Viagra, especially in someone else’s name! AND, as a single man who frequents the Dominican Republic and Thailand, where it is a known fact the gov’t turns a blind eye to prostitution. Has anyone ever wondered why he needs Viagra? He sure hasn’t fathered any kids in any of his FOUR marriages.

  9. ‘deeply held religious beliefs’ that’s their choice We cannot hold up change because of someone’s personal agenda however ‘deeply’ it is held.
