Osama’s Been Killed — Ten Haiku

Father forgive them,
for they know not what they do,
Yankees never say.

Osama’s been killed,
everyone’s now saying.
Firestorm will come soon.

An eye for an eye,
slaughter all people you fear.
Cold blood chills your veins.

Americans may
seem quite civilized at times.
Looks often deceive.

Summer follows spring;
autumn comes next for certain.
Blowback’s for sure, too.

To see justice done,
close right eye, obscure the left.
Drift off into dream.

Springtime arrives late.
Snows of far Afghanistan
cover many sins.

Summer’s searing heat
does not scorch nearly as much
as Pakistan’s nukes.

Enormous folly
resides in Great Leader’s mind.
People soon perish.

Murderous cycle
keeps turning in hardened hearts.
Fish can’t leap from lake.

  1. What a lovely lament for Osama!
Was it murder? Should Barack Obama
    be brought into court?
For this dear life cut short?
(Poor Higgs, what a batty ilama.)

  2. Mr. Steele,

I cannot fathom why you took these haiku to be a lament for Osama bin Laden. If they are a lament for anything, they are a lament for the moral character and the liberties the American people have willingly, even enthusiastically, surrendered as their government, in the usual guise of protecting the sheep, has moved relentlessly toward the creation of a totalitarian police state at home and a global empire abroad.

  3. Congratulations.
    You achieved your objective.
    Now quit groping me.

  4. Thank you Mr. Higgs. You’re always right on ! Steele and RRW fail to realize that our empire builders/intruders went there before the retaliators came here. Would Steele and RRW retaliate if intruders set up bases in their back yard ?

  5. Mr. Higgs,

One of the few legitimate roles of government is defense of the public from foreign enemies, and toward this end getting Osama bin Laden was especially important and quite legitimate. So for a change the government has done something that is particularly called for and long overdue, and you write... well, laments.

Higgs claims I don’t get his haiku
But somehow I think that I do
    The bile and blind hate
that he has for the state
Has him mad they got Osama too.

  6. Mr. Steele, there is not the slightest evidence, even on the USG’s own story, that killing bin Laden was necessary for anyone’s defense.

Bile and blind? You really don’t get it, Steele.

  8. OBL, apparently sarcasm is lost on the elderly. Why should they retaliate when our own security forces are doing more to terrorize us than they could ever hope to accomplish?

  9. Let’s see now, it took ten years, thousands of lives, and a trillion dollars to kill Osama and defend me from foreign enemies. I could have done without that.

I don’t want the government defending me from the foreign enemies they create. I want the government to leave me alone and leave everyone else in the world alone as well.
