Dennis Prager Interviews Robert Higgs

Syndicated talk show host Dennis Prager interviewed Bob Higgs on Feb. 24. In case you missed it, the lovely production staff sent me this file. After discussing Obama’s stimulus plan and dispelling myths surrounding wartime spending, Prager admits to wanting to fly to Louisiana just to hug Bob. Well worth a listen.

  2. Dennis Prager? He’s rather beholden to neo-connish ideology. I used to listen to him while delivering pizza, along with Michael Medved. I’d think this interview would be fraught with tension. I’ll just have to listen I suppose...

  3. I was surprised when I heard Dr. Higgs on Prager back then. Surprised, albeit pleasantly, because as the above comment noted Prager has a neoconservative political worldview which does not lend itself and is even antagonistic to a libertarian outlook. Prager has said some of the most caustic and vitriolic things toward Ron Paul that I’ve heard on the radio. Similarly with Medved who had Dr. Tom Woods on for his book Meltdown.

What I don’t understand is why do both of these neocons hate Paul with such passion and yet with equal passion turn around and get so giddy and excited like Prager, who I thought was going to propose to Dr. Higgs, and love folks like Higgs and Woods who say exactly what Dr. Paul says and who has endorsed books by these authors? It seems that this intellectual multiple personality disorder is very disturbing. I understand they’re not taking too kindly Paul’s FP [foreign policy] but at the very least not demonize him. This doesn’t seem to be an interest that is principled since I rarely have heard libertarian writers on neocon radio when Bush was doing what Obama is doing. Will they continue to show this interest if the Republicans come back into power one day?

Anyway it was a great interview and I’m glad Dr. Higgs was heard. Dr Higgs deserves a Nobel Peace Prize in economics for his book on the Depression, I mean that very seriously.

Why do the pathetic leftist loons feel compelled to resort to hyperbole, ad hominem attacks and derision in lieu of addressing the merits of what someone is asserting. Does being supercilious give you some claim to mental superiority?

Are you serious? You must have me confused for someone else or you must be a comic. First, point out what “ad hominem” attacks I made. What I described were the statements made by these various talk show hosts not their persons. I vigorously defend my description of their statements. Second, for someone who decries personal attacks you sure seem extremely adept at it (“pathetic loons”, “supercilious”). Third, if you actually read my comments the idea that I’m a lefty shows you have not mastered reading comprehension. Here is some advice. Ask yourself who was I criticizing AND why. I was criticizing the so called Right for not being consistent in their attacks. What Obama is doing is no different than what Bush II did only greater. For crying out loud I pointed out how Rep. Paul was the only one (at least visibly) denouncing Bush for his very ANTI-conservative policies of huge gov’t. I praised Dr. Higgs! Is he some lefty loon? Have you read his books on the state and the economy? I have and personally subscribe to everything he says. Is opposition to government a Right or Left leaning view? That should be an easy one even for you. It’s as if you live in some kind of bizarro world where everything is the opposite of everything in this world.

I do apologize if I stepped on some of your favorite talk show hosts but you are an example of what happens when a person gets their info from the likes of Medved, et al., and thinks that is intelligent radio. You’ve developed what I call RTSS (Radio Talk Show Syndrome) where you feel the need to identify with these folks in such a way that clouds your ability to see anything outside of them. Harold, I say this seriously to you, buddy, you are embarrassing yourself.
